About the Role:
Infracon is a full-service civil construction and industrial services group with project sites across Western Canada. We are currently seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to join our team on the Site Wide Services Project at the Highland Valley Copper mine site near Logan Lake, BC.
This role involves the installation of underground utilities including water, sewer, storm, and other industrial piping systems in a heavy civil, mining environment. Candidates must bring a safety-first mindset and the experience to support efficient and high-quality pipe installations in an active, multi-discipline construction site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a safety leader—actively promote and adhere to all safety protocols on site.
- Interpret project drawings, grade sheets, and survey stakes to plan and execute pipe installation.
- Follow direction from the Pipe Foreman and work collaboratively with pipe crew and equipment operators.
- Assist in laying pipe to correct line and grade using levels, lasers, and GPS as required.
- Ensure proper pipe bedding, alignment, compaction, and backfill procedures.
- Inspect pipe joints, fittings, and connections to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Support installation of manholes, catch basins, valves, and other underground structures.
- Maintain an organized and hazard-free trench and work zone.
- Participate in daily job planning and crew coordination meetings.
- Communicate site conditions, risks, and improvement ideas to foremen and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as required to support the success of the Site Wide Services team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in civil/municipal pipe installation (water, sewer, storm, hydro, or industrial utilities).
- Proven experience installing pipe in heavy civil or mining construction environments.
- Valid HDPE Pipe Fuser certification is preferred.
- Must be comfortable working in trenches, excavations, and confined spaces.
- Knowledge of MMCD, CSA, and other relevant civil construction standards.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, grade sheets, and survey layouts.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Physically fit and capable of working in varying weather conditions and rugged terrain.
Preferred Assets:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract.
- Confined Space certification and experience working in confined spaces.
- Occupational First Aid Level 1 and SiteReady BC (CSTS).
- Experience on active mine sites or other large-scale industrial projects.
Additional Information:
- Shift Schedule: 14 days on / 7 days off, 10-hour shifts.
- Shuttle Service Provided: Transportation to and from the Highland Valley Copper mine site is available from Kamloops and Merritt.
- No camp accommodations or LOA provided.
- Only local candidates or those willing to commute to shuttle pick-up points will be
considered.
