Ashcroft Terminal and the PSA Group are seeking a Rail Equipment Operator to join our growing team!
As the only private logistics terminal in Canada with CP & CN mainlines onsite, Ashcroft Terminal is strategically located to help shippers, manufacturers, and producers prepare their commodities for export or import. As a member of PSA International, Ashcroft Terminal is part of a global network of supply chain professionals!
In the position of Rail Equipment Operator, the successful candidate will support safe and efficient rail car switching services.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Operating rail equipment in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring all rail operating procedures are followed.
- Operating trackmobile to transport railcars to designated areas within the yard.
- Coupling and uncoupling of rail cars through the operation of handbrakes accordingly and as per policy.
- Actively communicating by radio to ensure safe transportation of rail cars.
- Completing daily and weekly mechanical and equipment checks and inspections.
- Performing general labour tasks (as required), to assist with site maintenance.
- Communicating efficiently with Assistant Terminal Manager, making recommendations on process improvements.
- Participating in training as required.
- Adhering to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
For success in this role, you must have:
- Your Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- A valid drivers license and clean drivers abstract.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the rail industry.
- Your valid Canadian Rail Operating Rules certification.
- The ability to perform physically repetitive tasks, stand for extended periods of time and lift 50 lbs.
- The ability to work outside year-round in all weather conditions during irregular working hours.
