The Village of Cache Creek is currently seeking a qualified and dedicated Waste Water Systems Operator 2 to join our Public Works team. In this key role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the community's wastewater systems. This includes ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, maintaining operational efficiency, and supporting the health and well-being of our residents.

While your primary focus will be on wastewater systems, you will also be expected to assist with public works activities as directed by the Public Works Foreman. Typical tasks result in approximately 50% of working hours in the Waste Water Treatment Plant.

For potential applicants that are new to the area, Cache Creek (approx. pop. 1000) is at the intersection of Highway 1 and 97. Our location allows for a quality lifestyle in a friendly rural community, with access to many amenities located in Kamloops - 45 minutes to the East, and the Lower Mainland – 3 hours to the South-West.

Key Responsibilities:

· Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plants, pumps, valves, and equipment.

· Perform routine maintenance and inspections of water and wastewater infrastructure.

· Conduct water sampling and testing for compliance with regulatory standards.

· Operate tools and equipment, including heavy machinery when required.

· Respond promptly and effectively to system malfunctions, spills, or emergencies.

· Maintain detailed records of maintenance, test results, and inspections.

· Ensure all activities comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations.

· Collaborate with internal staff, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

· Promote and follow safety protocols in all areas of work.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.

· Air Brake Endorsement

· Experience in municipal wastewater operations.

· Strong working knowledge of wastewater systems and treatment processes.

· Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in varying conditions.

· Basic computer proficiency for documentation and reporting.

· Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

· Must be willing to undergo background checks or drug screenings as per policy.

EOCP Certification in Waste Water Treatment is required for the position. A level 2 Certification is strongly preferred, however, candidates with a level 1 certification who demonstrate strong potential and relevant skills will also be considered.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $35.52-$39.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
