The Whispering Pines / Clinton Indian Band is one of the seventeen bands within the Secwepemc territory. Traditionally from the Clinton area, Whispering Pines/ Clinton Indian Band membership includes ancestral lineage from both the Pelltíq’t te Pésellkwes (People of the White Earth/ Kelly Lake) and Steke’7ús (People of the Little Hanging Bridge (Big Bar)). As a Band we are committed to serving our community and membership as well as building a future that upholds our Ancestral responsibilities.

The Tmicw Manager will lead the management of the lands, water and natural resources within the territory through the assertion of existing title and rights, while advocating for the establishment of and further recognition of title and rights in accordance with Secwepemc Law.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

· Develops, implements and monitors strategic planning around existing and future needs, providing professional expertise, direction, advice, and recommendations that will advance initiatives within the Tmicw department;

· Develops annual budgets with accompanying workplans to ensure proper planning and budgeting of current and future needs/projects, ensuring regular review, monitoring, and adjustments as required;

· Provides operational oversight and management of teams needed for projects and work related to the Tmicw department;

· Supports the management of the Territorial Stewardship Office through assistance in determining proper protection or utilization of natural resources;

· Oversees consultation and engagement processes, policies, agreements, contracts, and supports including the referrals system;

· Oversee development and implementation of Software & Tools (eg. referrals processing);

· Recommends and oversees development of policy and procedures to support the advancement of the Tmicw department;

· Provides human resource management to staff through leadership, coaching and mentoring;

· Identifies, establishes and maintains strategic relationships with other governments, nations and indigenous people to advance the interests of the WPCIB;

· Provides advisory support to Chief and Council when required.

· Advocates and represents the WPCIB and their interests at internal and external meetings;

· Initiates funding proposals and ensures timely completion of reporting requirements;

· Prepares written documents including project updates, reports, evaluations, etc.;

Qualifications:

· Degree in Resource Management (forestry, ecology, natural resources, land use planning) or related field relevant to position;

· Minimum five (5) years of experience working within a similar role at a senior level within a First Nations organization;

· Working knowledge of First Nations governance and Secwepemc Law;

· Criminal record check;

· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Pay: From $80,080.00 per year
