Overtime: 1.5x OT implemented after 10h day or 40h week.

Travel: Travel incentive is included per collective agreement

Union & Benefits: Employees will be hired as Union Members and benefits provided under International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115 upon signing up and paying admission fees

Position Overview:

Cantex Mining Services is seeking a Excavator Operator who will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of excavators ranging from Cat 336 to Cat 374, used for truck loading, final grade profiling, and general construction work.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate excavators to complete a variety of earthworks safely and efficiently.
  • Load trucks, profile to final grade, and support general construction operations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identifying wear or damage.
  • Follow direction and site plans accurately.

Expectations:

  • Wear full PPE, including respirator, steel-toed boots, high-visibility vest, hard hat,
  • gloves, and task-specific protection as needed.
  • Capable of commuting independently to/from job sites.
  • Effectively manage fatigue during 12-hour or night shifts as assigned.
  • Work cooperatively with team members and perform tasks independently when
  • needed.
  • Maintain productivity while upholding safety standards.
  • Communicate clearly via radio; complete timecards, logbooks, and FLRAs accurately.
  • Report safety concerns or hazards immediately.
  • Adapt to weather changes, equipment breakdowns, and changing tasks.
  • Maintain environmental awareness, including spill prevention and high-altitude
  • conditions.

Assets:

  • Experience working on slopes, in tight quarters, or production loading environments.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols (e.g., Mines Act, lockout/tagout, confined space).
  • Level 1 or higher First Aid.
  • Class 1/3 driver’s license or Mine Supervisor Certification is an advantage.

Documentation: All successful candidates must provide the following prior to confirmation of start date:

  • Void cheque/direct deposit form
  • Copy of Driver’s Abstract
  • Copy of Driver’s License
