Job Summary:
Cantex Mining Services Ltd. is seeking an experienced Surveyor to support construction activities at the LL Dam project, located at the Highland Valley Copper mine site. The surveyor is responsible for the routine layout, monitoring, pickups, and creating of as-builts for all field work performed. This will be a mix of field and office work tasks. This position is located at the tailings dam of a large copper mine between Ashcroft and Logan Lake, BC.
The ideal candidate will have strong skills with Trimble systems, a safety-first approach, and the ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.
Responsibilities
- Observe all safety practices and standards.
- Ensure compliance of IFC designs.
- Conduct field surveying including: layout, monitoring, pickups, data entry, as-builts.
- Maintain high standard with collection and documentation of field data with accuracy.
- Communication to the construction team in a timely manner.
- Verifies and records correction for non-conformance in the field.
- Entering field data into survey database.
- Ensure housekeeping in and around the survey office.
- Inspect, calibrate, and maintain survey equipment.
- Complete additional duties as required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Possess a safety-oriented mindset.
- Physically capable to lift up to 20kg and install survey stakes into a variety of terrains.
- Physically capable to spend most of the day walking/standing and carrying survey
- equipment.
- Familiar with variety of survey layout, construction, and as-built surveys.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems.
- Ability to perform calculations in the field.
- Strong literacy skills including the ability to read and understand design work points.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain effective time management.
- Ability to act with integrity and good judgment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum High school diploma is required but degree or diploma (or equivalent) in related field is preferred.
- Previous survey experience with Trimble Business Center is required.
- Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
- Drug and Alcohol Pre-access Test
