Village of Cache Creek – Public Works Temporary Full Time Labourer
Contract Period: For a period of 8 months from the date of commencement
Hours: 40 Hours per week
Wage: $29.89 per hour
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Public Works Temporary Full Time Labourer to join our team. As a Public Works Temporary Full Time Labourer, you will be responsible for assisting in various tasks related to village projects, including road maintenance, landscaping, facility cleaning and repairs and infrastructure repairs. The ideal candidate will possess a Class 5 Driver's License and have a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment.
For potential applicants that are new to the area, Cache Creek (approx. pop. 1000) is at the intersection of Highway 1 and 97. Our location allows for a quality lifestyle in a friendly rural community, with access to many amenities located in Kamloops - 45 minutes to the East, and the Lower Mainland – 3 hours to the South-West.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure, including roads, sidewalks, and parks.
- Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of Village facilities
- Operate and maintain various tools and equipment, such as power tools, hand tools, vehicles, and eventually heavy equipment.
- Perform landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, planting, and irrigating.
- Assist in the installation and repair of signs, fences, and guardrails.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and report any issues or concerns to supervisors.
Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License is mandatory.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in public works or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to operate various tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Assets:
The following qualifications and certifications are considered assets:
- Irrigation system installation and maintenance is an asset that is strongly weighed in this specific application
- Noxious weeds certification
