Minex Contractors Ltd, a division of Infracon Construction Inc., is seeking an experienced Foreman to support and lead day-to-day operations at the Campbell Hill Landfill near Cache Creek, BC. This is a hands-on leadership role for a safety-focused professional with strong operational knowledge in heavy civil construction, mining, forestry, or landfill operations.

The ideal candidate brings proven field leadership experience, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to coordinate crews, equipment, and production activities while maintaining compliance with site, regulatory, and company standards.

Reporting to the Superintendent, this is a unionized position, with compensation and benefits governed by the CLAC Local 68 Collective Agreement. Travel pay will be provided for candidates residing within a reasonable commuting distance to the site.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day supervision and direction to operators and labourers
  • Lead by example in safety, professionalism, and work ethic
  • Coordinate daily work plans to meet operational and production targets
  • Mentor and support crew members, promoting skill development and teamwork
  • Communicate effectively with the Superintendent regarding progress, issues, and priorities

Operations & Production

  • Oversee landfill operations including cell development, waste placement, cover activities, and material handling
  • Coordinate equipment usage to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
  • Assist with equipment operation and ground work as required
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with site plans, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards

Safety & Compliance

  • Act as a visible safety leader on site
  • Conduct and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments
  • Ensure compliance with company safety programs, WorkSafeBC requirements, and landfill operating permits
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions and work practices immediately
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions

Equipment & Reporting

  • Ensure pre- and post-use inspections are completed and documented
  • Identify and report maintenance issues or equipment deficiencies
  • Complete and review daily logs, reports, and required paperwork accurately and on time
  • Ensure equipment, tools, and materials are properly secured at the end of each shift

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Previous experience in a Foreman or Lead Hand role in heavy civil construction, mining, forestry, or landfill operations
  • Strong working knowledge of heavy equipment operations (dozers, excavators, loaders)
  • Ability to read and interpret site plans, grades, and operational requirements
  • Experience coordinating crews and equipment in an active work environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accountability
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and safe work practices
  • Experience operating GPS machine controls is considered an asset
  • First Aid, CSTS, and other safety certifications are considered an asset

Safety Requirements

  • Worker-supplied PPE: CSA-approved boots, hi-visibility vest, hard hat, and safety glasses
  • Minex will provide any required specialized PPE

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position works outdoors the majority of the time. Conditions may include hot or cold temperatures, wind, dust, uneven ground, and variable terrain. The Foreman role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing, as well as the ability to work around heavy equipment and from elevated platforms as required.

Safety Requirements:

  • Basic PPE to be supplied by the worker are boots, hi-visibility vest, hardhat and glasses.
  • MINEX will provide any specialized PPE.
  • Drug and Alcohol testing, as required
  • Safety certifications (First Aid, CSTS, etc.) considered an asset

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

This position works outdoors a majority of time and conditions may include very cold or hot temperatures, wind, flying dust, and uneven ground. The Heavy Equipment Operator position requires frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling. Must be able to climb ladders, and work from stationary platforms from elevated heights.

Compensation & Benefits

Minex offers competitive union wages and benefits in accordance with the CLAC Local 68 Collective Agreement. The Foreman wage rate ranges from $34.91 to $37.97 per hour, plus an additional 18% Foreman premium, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
