Job Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day delivery of HR services. Reporting to the General Manager, this role assists with recruitment, onboarding, training coordination, HR administration, performance management, and policy support. The successful candidate will be highly organized, people-focused, and able to handle confidential information with professionalism and care. This role is ideal for an HR professional who is early-to-mid career and eager to grow within a values-based, Indigenous-led organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with recruitment planning and coordination to meet organizational needs,
- Develop interview packages, screen applicants, coordinate and attend interviews,
- Conduct reference checks and support hiring documentation,
- Arrange and post job advertisements,
- Process, verify, and maintain personnel documentation related to hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and classifications,
- Maintain and update the HR Information System (HRIS),
- Compile HR reports, correspondence, and tracking documents,
- Respond to HR-related inquiries from staff and external contacts,
- Coordinate in-house and external training opportunities (in-person and virtual),
- Support onboarding and orientation processes,
- Assist with tracking training completion,
- Edit, format, and maintain HR policies and procedures,
- Support operational and strategic HR initiatives directed by management,
- Contribute to HR practices that promote equity, inclusion, and respectful workplace culture, and
- Other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism,
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail,
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a relationship-based communication style,
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing, multitasking, and managing time,
- Sound judgment, integrity, and a high degree of professionalism,
- Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office productivity software and solid computer skills, and
- Willingness to learn n?e?kepmx cultural values and protocols while recognizing and respecting cultural diversity.
Experience and Requirements:
- 0.5–5 years of experience in human resources, recruitment, or related administrative roles,
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset,
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or equivalent, is an asset,
- Experience using HRIS software is an asset,
- Experience and/or understanding of the construction industry is an asset,
- Experience working in union environments and with collective agreements is an asset,
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle,
- Criminal Record Check required, and
- A strong desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a collaborative team.
