About the Opportunity

Cantex Mining Services is seeking an experienced Quality Control Technician to join our team supporting earthworks and mining operations near Logan Lake, BC. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

This is a local position only—no camp accommodations are provided.


Compensation & Schedule

  • Wage: $35–$38 per hour
  • Shift Options:
    • 4 days on / 3 days off (12-hour days)
    • 7 days on / 7 days off (12-hour days & nights)
  • Overtime: Paid at 1.5x after 10 hours/day or 40 hours/week
  • Travel Incentive: Based on distance from site
  • Union & Benefits: IUOE Local 115 membership and benefits

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety practices and standards
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Control Program
  • Collect field samples and perform lab testing
  • Conduct compaction testing using a nuclear densometer
  • Identify and report non-conforming results
  • Complete accurate field calculations, reporting, and data entry
  • Interpret IFC drawings, inspection test plans, and ASTM codes
  • Maintain lab and equipment (inspection, calibration, housekeeping)
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
  • Work independently and collaboratively in all weather conditions

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience in earthworks quality control and compaction testing
  • Strong lab testing experience (gradation, proctors, etc.)
  • Knowledge of field calculations and data entry
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol Pre-Access Test
  • Comfortable working 12-hour shifts in varying weather conditions

  • Driver’s license and driver’s abstract

  • Relevant certifications and training records
  • Completion of online and site-specific orientation
