Heavy Equipment Operator (Excavator/Dozer)
Minex, a division of Infracon Construction Inc. is seeking experienced Excavator and Dozer operators to join our growing team and support our active operations at the Campbell Hill Landfill near Cache Creek, BC.
The ideal candidate has a valid Driver’s licence and previous experience working in a heavy civil construction, mining or forestry environment operating Dozers and Excavators. We are looking for candidates that have demonstrated a commitment to safety and want to be part of an exciting project and operations team.
Reporting to the Superintendent, this position is a union position, and the compensation and benefits are detailed under the CLAC Local 68 Union Agreement. Travel pay will be provided for candidates residing in the local area within a reasonable commute to the operations site.
Responsibilities
• Safely, efficiently operate multiple sizes of heavy equipment to meet production demands
• Sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
• Safely secure construction equipment, attachments, materials and other equipment
• Identify and report any required or preventative maintenance to supervisor
• Perform all appropriate pre- and post-equipment inspections
• Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks
• Timely and accurate completion of all required paperwork
• Must be willing and able to assist with ground work as required
• Other responsibilities to support the success of the company and it's operations.
Qualifications and Experience
• Must have a valid Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
• Previous experience in the heavy civil construction, mining or forestry industry is ideal
• Reliable transportation for travel to multiple work locations
• Basic experience working with hand tools
• Experience pulling grade and sloping (with or without stakes), operating GPS machine controls and loading haul trucks is considered an asset
• Sufficient mechanical ability to troubleshoot and make minor repairs to equipment and vehicle
• Capable of working with minimal supervision
• Must be able to work independently and demonstrate a high level of professionalism.

• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Must have a demonstrated commitment to being a safety leader
Safety Requirements
• Basic PPE to be supplied by the worker are boots, hi-visibility vest, hardhat and glasses. MINEX will provide any specialized PPE.
• Drug and Alcohol testing, as required
• Safety certifications (First Aid, CSTS, etc.) considered an asset

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position works outdoors a majority of time and conditions may include very cold or hot temperatures, wind, flying dust, and uneven ground. The Heavy Equipment Operator position requires frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, reaching and kneeling. Must be able to climb ladders, and work from stationary platforms from elevated heights.
Compensation
The company can offer competitive wages from $30.62 - $37.97 depending on experience and competencies as per hour as outlined by the collective agreement with CLAC Local 68. Our culture is built on determination, teamwork, and integrity.
