We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team and support the sustainable, transparent management of the Nation’s financial operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the Band Administrator/Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Chief (Kúkpi7), and Council, contributing to the programs, services, and long-term vision of our community.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (CPP, EI, Income Tax, GST, PST, WCB)
- Provide timely financial reporting to external bodies (ISC, CIRNAC, auditors, community)
- Lead audit preparation and liaise with auditors
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of financial transactions
Budgeting & Strategic Support
- Manage operating budgets in collaboration with senior leadership
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Provide financial insights on economic development initiatives and funding proposals
- Support long-term financial planning and sustainability
Day-to-Day Financial Operations
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger
- Manage cash flow and ensure timely invoice processing
- Perform monthly bank and loan reconciliations
- Administer online banking, payroll processing, and fund transfers
- Ensure expenditures align with signing authority policies
Funding & Grants
- Prepare funding applications and supporting documentation
- Track funding agreements and ensure reporting requirements are met
- Communicate funding updates and obligations to leadership
Qualifications
Education
- Post-secondary degree in a related field
- CPA designation (completed or near completion), or equivalent combination of education and experience
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with audit preparation and external auditors
- Knowledge of Indigenous Services Canada funding and reporting requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Experience with accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive financial experience
- Experience in multi-department or multi-fund environments
- Experience working with a First Nation, Band Office, or Indigenous organization is a strong asset
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary: $90,000+, based on experience and qualifications
- Competitive benefits package (extended health and dental)
- Two weeks paid vacation, with additional time earned over tenure
Working Conditions
- May require occasional evening or non-standard hours (e.g., meetings, annual audit)
- Works independently with support from the Band Administrator/CAO
- Potential for occasional remote work, subject to approval

- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License
- Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance
