Swim Instructor / Lifeguard – Ashcroft Pool (2026 Season)

The Village of Ashcroft is seeking one certified Swim Instructor / Lifeguard to join our team for the 2026 summer season. This role is ideal for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about teaching swimming, promoting water safety, and contributing to a positive community experience.

Saturday, May 16, 2026 – Sunday, September 6, 2026


Position Overview

The Swim Instructor is responsible for delivering engaging, safe, and effective swim lessons to participants of various ages and abilities. This position also includes full lifeguarding responsibilities to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all pool patrons.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Instructing swim lessons to a variety of age groups and skill levels
  • Supervising the pool area to maintain a safe environment
  • Responding to emergencies and providing first aid as required
  • Enforcing pool rules and safety regulations
  • Performing basic pool maintenance, including chemical testing and cleaning
  • Completing janitorial duties to maintain facility cleanliness
  • Assisting with front-end operations such as admissions, sales, and swim lesson registration
  • Working in various outdoor weather conditions

Qualifications

  • Current National Lifeguard (NL) – Pool Certification
  • Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor Certification
  • Valid CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
  • Strong swimming ability and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Previous swim instruction experience is considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits

  • $24.06 per hour, plus:
    • 4% in lieu of vacation
    • $1.25/hour in lieu of benefits (upon completion of probation)
  • Wages are currently under collective bargaining and subject to change
  • CUPE Local 900 full-time position (35+ hours/week) with recall rights after probation
