Position Summary

Cantex Mining Services is seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to support heavy civil and earthworks projects around Logan Lake, BC.

Working closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent, the Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, coordinating bids, and supporting project planning from pre-construction through completion.

This position will begin on a part-time or contract basis, with the potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance. The role is fully remote, with availability required during standard business hours.


Employment Details

  • Compensation: $65,000 – $95,000 annually
  • Schedule: Varies based on project requirements
  • Travel: May be required for site visits and project work
  • Orientation: Online and site orientation required

Note: This is a local hire position. Camp accommodations are not provided; candidates must reside in the region and arrange their own housing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers during the tendering phase
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and well-organized estimates and bid documents
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements
  • Coordinate the tender process and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Prepare and submit proposals and quotes
  • Conduct site walkthroughs and attend project meetings
  • Review geotechnical conditions and develop risk matrices
  • Perform quantity take-offs and assist with preliminary budgets
  • Assist in managing projects from pre-construction through completion
  • Maintain cost databases and track project profitability
  • Support change order pricing and cost control activities
  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent trade experience
  • Minimum 10 years of construction estimating and field experience
  • Experience with a General or Civil Contractor
  • Proven experience leading bids valued between $1M and $50M
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Estimating and cost control
    • Construction methods, planning, and scheduling
    • Quantity take-offs and bid preparation
    • Contract terms, risks, and delivery methods
  • Experience with heavy civil, open cut, and tunnel projects
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships
  • Prior supervisory experience is an asset
