Bakery Opener / Morning Baker

Part-time | 10-30 hours per week | $25 per hour | Early morning shifts

We are looking for a reliable, early-rising bakery opener to join our warm, creative, family-centered bakery. This role is perfect for someone who loves baking, enjoys the rhythm of quiet morning prep, and takes pride in helping the whole day begin smoothly.

Shift start: between 3:00 am and 7:00 am

Shift length: 4-7 hours

Hours: approx. 10-30 per week

Pay: $25 per hour

About the Position

Our bakery opens at 7:00 am, so early mornings are required. We are flexible and willing to work with the right individual on scheduling, but applicants must be available for morning opener shifts. Applicants must also be willing to help cover other shifts from time to time, including barista, closing, or evening prep, when illness or emergencies arise.

Responsibilities

  • Open the bakery and prepare the space for the day.
  • Make coffee and help with morning drink service.
  • Bake scones, bread, cookies, and other items that were prepped the night before.
  • Keep the kitchen and work areas clean, organized, and food-safe.
  • Let management know when supplies or ingredients are running low.
  • Assist with sandwich prep and other packaged food items.
  • Work the till or make drinks when needed.
  • Occasionally assist with barista, closing, or evening prep shifts due to illness, emergencies, or scheduling needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Food Safe certificate.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • References.
  • Availability for early morning shifts starting as early as 3:00 am.
  • Genuine comfort around children and family-centered spaces.

Important: Must Like Kids

We are not just a family-friendly bakery. We are a family-centered establishment. There are often children in the bakery, whether they belong to customers or staff, and we want someone who is kind, patient, and comfortable in that environment.
