Responsibilities include helping with pre and post season set up and tear down, maintenance, and horse work.

Specific Duties

• Pre-season work includes:
  • Painting, cleaning, and maintenance of all areas on Historic Hat Creek Ranch to get the site set up and ready for customers
  • There is not limitation on these duties
• During the season:
  • Maintenance of the stagecoach such as greasing the wheels if needed
  • Cleaning of the livestock pens in the evening once the stagecoach has finished for the day.

• During a regular day:
  • Ride along with the teamster and assist guest in and out of the stagecoach
  • Sanitize the stagecoach as needed after each ride
  • Assist the teamster where needed when it comes to help with the horses
• Post-season work includes, but is not limited to:
  • Cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all equipment used during season
  • Putting away the stagecoach and wagons
  • Cleaning of the harnesses and barns.

Qualifications:

• Livestock experience, particularly with horses
• Minimum 16 years old
• Communication skills
• Being physically capable of lifting to 50 lbs. and climb up and down a stagecoach
• Willingness to wear period attire as a stagecoach driver from 1860-1920s
• Foreign language skills are an asset but not required
• Ability to pass and maintain a criminal record check
